HRECOS monitors and documents baseline weather and water quality conditions, tracking long-term change and short-term variability—a solid foundation for the research that explores changing trends. 

You can use our data and associated products for field-testing and calibration/verification of models. It also can support summary statistics, hypothesis testing, and observations to describe novel phenomena and enhance understanding of the Hudson River system.

As part of the National Estuarine Research Reserve System-Wide Monitoring Program (SWMP), the Hudson River Reserve has maintained two of their HRECOS stations since the 1990s.  Compiled for the past several decades, this dataset on parameters like temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen allows for year to year comparison. It’s also collected to a national dataset that allows apples to apples comparisons across estuarine systems. The Reserve provides annual analysis of this data in their SWMP Status Reports.
